What is carbon neutral?

Carbon neutrality is a state of net-zero carbon dioxide emissions. This can be achieved by balancing emissions of carbon dioxide with its removal (often through carbon offsetting) orby eliminating emissions from society (the transition to the “post-carbon economy”).

Japan’s efforts

In October 2020 Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga positioned Japan to be a global leader in decarbonization. He stated “By 2050, greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced to zero as a whole, that is, 2050 carbon-neutral, decarbonized society.”

Vietnam’s efforts

In 2017, Vietnam Government formulated a NAP (National Action Plan for the implementation of the 2030 sustainable development agenda)that takes SDGs into consideration.
